Beyond the Impact: Indie Apocalypse

March 1, 2016

This week we talk with first time writer/director Jeff Patton about his project Beyond the Impact. We learn a little of Jeff's background and why he chose to become a film-maker, and why Beyond the Impact is like nothing else being shot in San Diego. We talk with Jessica Moore about her experiences as an actor and her role with Etched Motion Productions. We discuss how the community can help or hurt a production and how there are a plethora of businesses around the film industry that take advantage of people who are passionate about film-making. Lou does another film workshop, this time for a sequel and Ty laughs way too much ... the entire episode.

Voice/Acting: Indie Apocalypse

January 12, 2016

We have way too much fun on this episode, at our own expense, when we welcome the very talented Mark Allyn, voice actor and Senator. (as seen on TV) We talk about Mark’s rocket to success as an actor in both commercial and entertainment industries in a short amount of time, and how he measures success not by fame but by doing what he loves. We talk about his choice to become a SAG member so quickly, why he starting doing voice work and why he loves it so much. We also get Lou’s one-word review of this year’s Oscar contenders. Yeah right! I gotcha one word: LOLs.

A Very Merrick Christmas episode: Indie Apocalypse

December 22, 2015

Ty and Lou close out the year with a special Christmas episode. Merrick McCartha drops by to share his experiences, and some great stories, as an actor in the Hollywood and independent film scenes and Brian Higginbotham delves into the psyche of a writer and what are some fundamental things all screen writers should keep in mind. We talk about writing what you know and writing for actors you know. We also reminisce on some 80s films as Lou shares his thoughts on seeing Excalibur for the fist time and we talk about how you know it's Christmas - because of the music and movies that are in our minds during the holidays.

The Fixer: Indie Apocalypse

December 15, 2015

The week on Indie Apocalypse we welcome Michael Ledoux (aka the Selfie Bandit) to tell us how he makes every day a great day and how he approaches drama that often arises on a film project or in the film community. We talk about social media attention addicts, #SelfieDad, the Mickey Mouse curve on copyrights and catch up on Ty's homework to watch Requiem for a Dream. We also take a moment to have everyone chime in on their favorite part of the film production process and why Michael is the producer this city needs but doesn't deserve.
